Google Hacked (Again) or Another DNS Problem?

First Google Chrome kicked me out of Google services flashing red and refusing to add an exception for an invalid certificate. Next came Firefox which also downright refused to add an exception to the obviously invalid certificate. Is this another DNS problem, did somebody mess up the certificate or are am I (or they) experiencing a denial of service attack?

I have the same problem, started last night.
    I can ping google.com, but not http://www.google.com

It could be your ISP, have your tried accessing the site via a proxy server?
Otherwise your other option is to change your hosts file and add http://www.google.com explicitly or you can wait it out.

Google ping from a machine on the backend of the internet gives the following which you can add to your hosts file:

    ——————————————————————————————————————————
    74.125.19.104 http://www.google.com
    ——————————————————————————————————————————
    PING http://www.l.google.com (74.125.19.104) 56(84) bytes of data.
    64 bytes from cf-in-f104.google.com (74.125.19.104): icmp_seq=1 ttl=245 time=18.8 ms
    64 bytes from cf-in-f104.google.com (74.125.19.104): icmp_seq=2 ttl=245 time=18.9 ms

    http://www.l.google.com ping statistics —
2 packets transmitted, 2 received, 0% packet loss, time 1002ms
    rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 18.865/18.921/18.978/0.148 ms

    Thanks for your reply.

I did a series of efforts, deleting cookies, restarting the ADSL modem, etc.
It may be that if there was a DNS problem it was resolved at the same time.
    Now Google is working OK.

The one and only time I used Yahoo search instead of Google was during this little incident.
Glad you’re up and running again Harri!
